our home & living

celebrating 2 years of our 1920's farmhouse

On July 27, 2018 my husband and I moved into our first place we get to call "home". Many of you have heard about our special 1920's Farmhouse we're living in and this year we're excited to show you more of it! My husband dreamed of the day he'd be able to move into this house we call home.
This home was built by my husbands Grandpa back in the early 1900's. I wish we could say all of the home is original but back in 1976 the Teton Dam broke and flooded many cities that were downstream, including Rexburg. The collapse of the Dam caused deaths of 11 people and   13,000 cattle. Every home was flooded including our now 1920's Farmhouse, from the basement to 4in on the main floor.

You'd think that most of the flood mud would of been gone now since it's been 42 years, but we had a lovely surprise back in July 2016! Before we moved in, we were able to pull up the carpet in the living room, entryway, and dining room and stain the original hardwoods. It's pretty incredible the hardwoods were still in good condition.

We re-carpeted our bedroom and the guest bedroom with this plush carpet and did some minor decorations. But now it's been a little over two years since we've had our home, and I know y'all are all waiting to see the inside our 1920's Farmhouse, so stay tuned! We'll be posting a lot more photographs of our home, and the DIY's we've done and accomplished and those that we hadn't accomplish (ha ha). We love making our historic house feel more like home, everyday.
